For an easygoing global nomad, the last couple of weeks have had a flavour of heightened intensity given that I’ve been operating as a business consultant and then passing through rounds of interviews for jobs. It wasn’t that I couldn’t find the time to write a blog, it’s that I couldn’t find the energy to write, in my personal style, at a time where my analytical/creative energy had been depleted.
James Clear’s weekly newsletter gave me some guidance and yesterday I went on a 70km bike ride along the French riviera and did nothing but observe my surroundings and sit with my own thoughts. It was delightfully refreshing.
James writes:
“Boredom is a filter. Common ideas come before it. Uncommon ideas come after it. Sit with a project long enough to get bored with it, then sit a little more. The most useful insights bubble up after you get bored.”
It is safe to say that I have some ideas for content and I’ll get writing again over the next few days. Until then, enjoy the next 7 days, and perhaps experiment with boredom as a strength in your toolkit. You may be surprised with the results.
